Chocolate!

They say chocolate has all the right chemicals to make your brain happy. Chocolate, fondue-style,paired with happy funny children and tons of laughter, even better!

Homemade pizza, seriously, crust and all, from scratch. A small little helper to make the experience fun. One of the best parts; estimated cost of one large pizza equals $4.25! Beat that Papa Murphys.

My own bowling equipment

For a very long time, all the ladies/kids in my family have been enjoying Saturday bowling excursions. I am the ONLY one without my own junk. Seriously, even the 9 and 17-year-olds have their own stuff!! For christmas, my gma and mom went in and let me pick out my own stuff. All black and hot pink :). I'm not sure this qualifies as a "small thing" but hey, it's more about the fitting in with the family than anything :) The ball has a lot more black than this, about 50/50, but this gives you an idea.  

 

Snow!!

All I wanted was ONE day during my winter break to be stuck inside to watch the snow fall. It's beautiful and I'm happy! :)

Politeness

My kids don't always use their manners and yes, they often embarrass me in public. But today, 2 small moments made me smile proudly...
1) Me: "Girls, what do you want for breakfast?"
    Emily: "Um, I would like cheerios please mommy, I love you so much."
     Me: "That was so nice, I love YOU so much (big smooch on the head).
2) Aunt Mary ordered dessert after our lunch...a fruit and chocolate filled crepe. However, in a hurry to get my cranky 3-year-old home and down for a nap, I made her get it to-go. In the car, she somehow managed (only sacrificing her pants) to break that messy thing up and feed the girls bites. Half way into the gigantic thing, Emily says, "thank to auntie Mary for sharing your dessert with us, you're very nice."
   Me: "Emily, I am so proud of you for that. That sounded very sincere."
    Emily: "I know."

I heart Saucony

Today my auntie Mary and I wandered into Big 5 I'm search of some running shoes for me. After buying a pair of New Balances a couple months ago and regretting it, I have decided that I am forever staying loyal to saucony. I love them so much. After pulling up a coupon at the checkout counter, I ended up scoring these cute, amazingly comfortable shoes for $35.99! It's not often material items that make me happy, but THIS makes me happy! It's not about getting something new, it's about the magic I feel when I slip my little feeties into these shoes and run!

Childhood Memories

It was tough to choose today. Well it is every day, but tonight we had nachos for dinner. Melted cheese, beans, and all the works. My absolute favorite food, and a pretty significant "small" thing. I took a picture of my big second helping, and thought nothing could beat this as todays best small thing. Then, my kids begged to eat the rest of the olives out of the jar. I caved, and they proceeded to put them on their fingers. Then I realized that being able to relive our own childhood experiences through our children is a simple thing we so often over look. Made me feel very happy. Not to mention the new tradition of me eating them off their fingers. Haha. Just for fun, I am posting the runner up too.

Knee-highs

I know this one is really random and sounds super cheesy. But seriously, I love how warm they keep my legs all day.

One of my New Years Resolutions...A New Blog

One of the things I am known for is noticing and making the small things count in life. One of my New Years Resolutions is to start sharing these small things, because THEY are what makes life happy :)

Each day, I'm going to try to post one small thing I am thankful for. It's a separate blog, so you can read it however often you would like, or not read it, but continue to see updates about the girls (although they are slim these days).

I hope someone enjoys and remembers to appreciate small things in life.
